The Savage Arms Rascal .22 LR rimfire rifle is a lightweight, handy platform built for young shooters, small-game hunters, and anyone looking for a no-nonsense .22 that won't break the bank or wear you out in the field. This bolt-action .22 LR combines classic reliability with modern simplicity—a single-shot design that keeps shooters focused on fundamentals, trigger control, and marksmanship. At just 2.66 pounds with a compact 16.11-inch barrel and overall length of 31.5 inches, the Rascal handles like an air rifle and stows easily in a pack or vehicle.

The bright yellow synthetic stock isn't just eye-catching; it's practical. High-visibility furniture makes the rifle easy to spot in the field or at the range, and the durable polymer resists weather and rough handling—ideal for young hands or a truck gun that sees actual use. The satin blued finish on the steel barrel and receiver delivers honest, no-frills corrosion resistance. A 1:16 twist rate is tailored to .22 LR ammunition, the most affordable and abundant rimfire round available.

Single-shot discipline builds better shooters. Without the distraction of rapid follow-up capacity, every round counts. That's why the Rascal works for youth shooting programs, introductory hunting (squirrel, rabbit, and prairie dogs), rimfire competitions, and backyard plinking alike. The straightforward bolt action cycles smoothly and handles any .22 S, L, or LR ammunition—giving you flexibility at the ammunition counter without sacrificing reliability.

Pair it with a rimfire scope, keep it maintained, and the Rascal will outlast many far more expensive rifles. This is the kind of tool you hand down or loan out without worry.

Frequently Asked Questions

What ammunition does the Savage Rascal shoot?

The Rascal handles .22 Short, .22 Long, and .22 LR ammunition. You can switch between them without any adjustments—just load and shoot. This flexibility is one of the rifle's practical strengths.

Is the Rascal good for a first-time shooter or young hunter?

Yes. The lightweight design, simple bolt action, and single-shot discipline make it excellent for youth programs, beginning shooters, and anyone learning trigger control and sight picture. It's also a proven small-game rifle for rabbits, squirrels, and similar game.

Can I mount a scope on the Rascal?

The supplied facts do not include scope rail or mounting information. Contact Bosque Outdoors directly to confirm optics compatibility for your setup.

Why choose a single-shot .22 over a semi-auto or magazine-fed rimfire?

Single-shot design removes the temptation to rush. Shooters focus on one accurate shot at a time, building proper fundamentals faster than with rapid-fire platforms. It's also simpler to maintain and deadlier in the hands of a disciplined marksman.
