Redding Reloading Equipment
The Redding Taper Crimp Die for 10mm Auto gives reloaders a precision finishing step purpose-built for modern pistol ammunition. Unlike conventional roll crimping, taper crimping applies a gentle, uniform squeeze to the case mouth without deforming the cartridge body—a critical technique for semi-automatic handgun rounds that headspace on the case mouth rather than the rim. If you're loading 10mm Auto for competition, self-defense, or high-volume range shooting and want consistent, reliable crimps that won't interfere with reliable feeding or chambering, this die delivers the control and repeatability serious handloaders depend on.
Taper crimping is the preferred method for pistol cartridges like 10mm Auto because it maintains case integrity and ensures uniform ammunition performance from round to round. This is especially important if you're working with tight tolerances or feeding ammunition through firearms with exacting chamber specs. The Redding name carries decades of trust in the handloading community for quality and precision—this die reflects that reputation.
Whether you're a pistol competitor fine-tuning loads for accuracy, a defensive shooter building reliable carry ammunition, or a handloader who values consistency across your entire reloading process, a dedicated taper crimp die is an essential tool. Pair it with your full-length die set and sizing equipment to round out a complete 10mm Auto reloading setup.
Roll crimping applies a circular groove around the case mouth and is standard for revolver ammunition. Taper crimping instead gradually reduces the case diameter near the mouth with a gentle squeeze. For 10mm Auto and other semi-automatic pistol rounds that headspace on the case mouth, taper crimping avoids the deformation that roll crimping can cause and promotes reliable feeding and chamber fit.
Yes. A full-length die resizes the entire case; a taper crimp die is a separate finishing step that applies the crimp. Most handloaders use both as sequential stages in their reloading sequence.
This die is built to standard reloading press specifications. Confirm your press manual or contact Redding directly if you have questions about fit with your specific equipment.
This die is configured for 10mm Auto only. Do not attempt to use it on other cartridges. If you reload other handgun calibers, you'll need appropriately sized dies for each.
