Redding Reloading Equipment
The Redding FTX Profile Crimp Die for 45-70 is a specialized reloading die engineered specifically for Hornady's FTX ammunition platform in this classic cartridge. If you're loading 45-70 with FTX bullets, this die solves a real problem: the shorter case length of FTX rounds requires a crimp profile different from standard 45-70 dies. This dedicated tool lets you achieve consistent, reliable crimps without adapting generic dies or struggling with press setup.
The Profile Crimp Die concentrates on one job—crimping—and does it precisely. For handloaders working with FTX projectiles, a proper crimp is non-negotiable for reliable chambering and consistent performance, especially in lever-action rifles where case fit matters. Redding's reputation for precision tooling means you get the exact profile needed for these shorter cases, not a compromise fit.
Whether you're reloading for hunting, Cowboy Action Shooting, or long-range 45-70 work, this die is a smart addition to your press if FTX bullets are in your rotation. It's the kind of specialized tool that separates careful reloaders from those who cut corners—and in handloading, precision counts.
If you're using Hornady FTX bullets in 45-70, this die is designed specifically for their shorter case length. A standard 45-70 crimp die may not profile correctly for these rounds, so this dedicated FTX die ensures proper crimping.
This die is profiled for the shorter case dimensions of FTX ammunition. Standard 45-70 dies are cut for full-length cases, so the crimp profile won't match FTX specifications.
This die is engineered for Hornady FTX ammunition's case length and profile. Using it on standard 45-70 rounds may not provide proper crimping, so it's best reserved for FTX loads.
