Redding Reloading Equipment
A Redding 7mm carbide size button kit upgrades your existing Redding Standard or Type S dies to deliver smoother, faster neck sizing without the mess of case lube. If you're loading 7mm bottleneck cartridges and tired of wrestling with lubricated brass or dealing with stuck cases, a carbide button swap transforms your die's performance. The hardened carbide surface polishes the case neck as it sizes, letting you work cleaner and move through your reloading bench more efficiently.
Redding's carbide buttons are engineered to self-center on the decapping rod, which means they float freely and naturally align with each case neck as it enters the die. That floating design reduces the risk of cocking or binding, and it means less maintenance headache for you. This isn't a budget hack—it's a genuine upgrade from a company that's been building reloading dies for serious handloaders.
The kit includes the carbide button itself, a retainer to hold it in place, and a spare decapping pin—everything you need to complete the swap. Note that the decapping rod is not included; you'll keep the rod from your existing die. This upgrade is compatible only with Redding Standard and Type S neck and full-length dies, so verify your die model before ordering.
| Caliber | 7mm |
| Cartridge Type | Bottleneck |
| Compatibility | Redding Standard and Type S neck and full-length dies |
| Kit Contents | Carbide sizing button, retainer, spare decapping pin |
| Decapping Rod | Not included |
Yes, if you own a Redding Standard or Type S full-length or neck die. The button, retainer, and decapping pin work with both die types. However, it is not compatible with other manufacturer's dies. Check your die model to confirm before purchasing.
No. The carbide surface is slick enough to size the case neck without lubrication, which means faster reloading sessions and cleaner brass when you're done.
The kit includes the carbide sizing button, a retainer, and one spare decapping pin. The decapping rod from your current die is reused—you do not need to purchase a replacement rod.
The carbide button is designed to float freely on the decapping rod and self-center as the case enters the die. This floating action reduces alignment issues and the risk of the button cocking sideways, resulting in more concentric sizing and longer die life.
