Redding Reloading Equipment
The Redding 73 Style Steel Bushing/.286 is a precision neck-sizing component built for reloaders who demand tight, consistent ammunition. If you're running a Redding Type S or Type S FL die body and need a .286" bushing, this heat-treated steel component delivers the controlled neck fit that separates handloaded ammo from factory rounds. The bushing's hand-polished sizing diameter reduces effort at the press while maintaining the surface hardness needed for long-term durability in a high-use reloading setup.
Redding bushings are engineered to a Rc 60-62 hardness specification, which means they'll maintain their sizing geometry shot after shot without accelerated wear. The .286" diameter fits the specific neck requirements of certain cartridges, and the bushing design works seamlessly with compatible Redding die bodies. For reloaders who've outgrown generic dies and want to fine-tune neck tension to suit their brass and bullets, this is the kind of incremental upgrade that shows up on the target.
Redding manufactures these bushings in .001" increments across a wide range—from .185" through .368"—so you can find the exact fit your brass needs. If you're already familiar with Redding's modular die system, swapping in a different bushing is straightforward; if you're new to it, this is your entry point into precision neck-size reloading without replacing your entire die setup.

| Product Type | 73 Style Steel Bushing |
| Bushing Size | .286" |
| Material | Heat-treated steel |
| Surface Hardness | Rc 60-62 |
The Redding 73 Style bushing is designed for use with Redding Type S or Type S FL die bodies that accept the 73-style bushing system. Verify your die model accepts 73-style bushings before ordering.
The .286" bushing size is specific to certain cartridges. Check your Redding die documentation or cartridge reloading manual to confirm your case requires a .286" bushing rather than a different size in Redding's .001" increment range.
Yes, if your Redding die body is compatible with 73-style bushings, you can swap this component in without replacing the die. It's designed as a modular part for reloaders who want to adjust neck tension or switch between cartridges with the same die body.
The bushing diameter controls how much the case neck is sized down during the reloading process. A properly fitted bushing ensures consistent neck tension, which improves cartridge concentricity and helps deliver more uniform velocity and accuracy downrange.
