Real Avid
The Real Avid Smart-Torq Fixed Limiter at 80 in-lb is a purpose-built torque tool designed to take the guesswork out of fastening critical components on your rifle. Whether you're mounting scope rings, tightening action screws, or securing other precision parts, this fixed-setting torque limiter ensures you apply exactly the right amount of force every time—no more, no less. The "click style" overload clutch gives you tactile feedback when you've reached the preset torque value, preventing the over-tightening that can strip threads, crack receivers, or damage expensive optics.
Built for the serious shooter and gunsmith, this tool combines professional-grade durability with straightforward, repeatable performance. The 80 in-lb setting covers a wide range of common rifle work, and the compact design integrates seamlessly with standard 1/4" hex drivers and bits already in your toolkit. Fixed torque settings mean there's no calibration to fuss with—just grab it and go to work. At ±5% accuracy, you get consistency shot after shot, build after build.
If you're tired of guessing whether your scope rings are tight enough, or if you've ever wondered whether you just over-torqued an action screw, this tool removes the uncertainty. It's the kind of hand tool that pays for itself the first time it saves a $2,000 scope from user error.
| Brand | Real Avid |
| Torque Setting | 80 in-lb (fixed) |
| Torque Accuracy | ±5% |
| Clutch Type | Click-style overload |
| Hex Driver Compatibility | 1/4" hex |
The 80 in-lb torque limiter is set to deliver exactly 80 inch-pounds of rotational force. This mid-range setting is suitable for many rifle work applications, including scope ring mounting and action screw work. Always verify your specific component manufacturer's torque spec to confirm this setting matches your needs.
When you turn the tool and reach the preset torque limit, the overload clutch triggers a click or tactile break, signaling that you've hit the target torque. This prevents accidental over-tightening and gives you a clear, repeatable endpoint for each fastening task.
The Real Avid Smart-Torq Fixed Limiter is compatible with standard 1/4" hex drivers and bits, so it integrates directly with the hex bit set you likely already own.
Yes. The fixed torque setting means there's no calibration to maintain. The compact design fits easily into a toolbox or gun tech drawer alongside your other gunsmithing tools.
