RCBS
The RCBS AR Small Base Die Set for 7.62x39 is built for shooters who reload for AR-platform rifles and other semiautomatic weapons in this popular intermediate cartridge. If you're processing 7.62x39 brass regularly—whether from commercial loads or military surplus—this two-die set handles the specific sizing and crimping demands of autoloaders, where loose case tolerances can cause feeding problems or misfires. RCBS engineered these dies with the tight specs that AR-15s and other piston or direct impingement guns require.
The set pairs a small base sizer die with a taper crimp seater die. The small base design is the key difference here: it sizes the case walls more aggressively than standard dies, ensuring reliable chambering and extraction in guns with tight tolerances. The taper crimp seater handles both bullet seating and crimp in one stroke, streamlining your press work and delivering consistent, shootable ammunition.
RCBS dies are known for solid construction and precision—these aren't budget tools, and they're designed to last through thousands of reloading cycles. If you're serious about 7.62x39 reloading and want dies that won't cause feeding or functioning issues in your AR or other semi, this is the right set to reach for.
| Cartridge | 7.62x39 |
| Die Type | Small Base Sizer Die and Taper Crimp Seater Die |
| Die Count | 2 |
| Manufacturer | RCBS |
RCBS dies are standard size and thread into any standard reloading press. Confirm your press accepts standard die threads before purchasing.
Small base dies size the case walls more aggressively than standard dies. This ensures that once-fired brass from autoloaders—which headspace differently than bolt guns—will chamber reliably and extract cleanly from your AR or other semiauto rifle.
This is a die set only. You'll need a compatible shell holder, reloading press, and other standard reloading gear to use it.
No. These dies are caliber-specific to 7.62x39. Do not attempt to use them for any other cartridge.
