RCBS
The RCBS 9217 Single Stage Shell Holder #17 is a precision reloading component engineered for handloaders working with 30 M1 Carbine and 32 ACP ammunition. If you're setting up a single-stage or turret press, this hardened steel shell holder is what locks your case in place during sizing, priming, and other reloading operations. Proper case alignment is non-negotiable when you're reforming brass—even small variations compound across a batch—and that's exactly what this holder delivers.
Shell holders are one of those components that get overlooked until you need to swap calibers, then you realize how essential they are. The #17 is sized specifically for the case heads you're working with and captures 0.125 inch of the case head to establish correct SAAMI headspacing. This matters whether you're loading match-grade rifle ammo or defensive pistol rounds: consistent headspace = consistent pressures and velocities.
Built from hardened steel for durability through hundreds of cycles, this holder fits standard RCBS single-stage and turret presses. If you're consolidating your reloading setup or expanding your caliber library, having the right shell holder on hand keeps your workflow moving without swapping or adapting components on the fly.
| Holder Number | #17 |
| Calibers Supported | 30 M1 Carbine, 32 ACP |
| Case Head Capture | 0.125 inch |
| Material | Hardened steel |
| Compatible Press Types | Single-stage, turret |
This holder is designed to work with RCBS single-stage and turret reloading presses.
Shell holders are caliber-specific and sized to fit particular case heads. The #17 is manufactured for 30 M1 Carbine and 32 ACP only. Using it for other calibers will not provide proper alignment or headspacing.
The amount of case head the holder captures determines proper SAAMI headspacing during the sizing process. Correct headspace is critical for safe, consistent ammunition performance and pressure levels.
