RCBS
If you reload for .44 Special, .44 Remington Magnum, or .44 Russian—whether you're feeding a revolver or a lever gun—the RCBS 18612 3-Die Carbide Set is purpose-built for the job. RCBS pioneered the three-die format for straight-wall pistol and rifle cartridges, and this set brings that proven efficiency to your .44 reloading bench. The carbide sizer die eliminates the messy step of case lubrication entirely, saving time and cleanup while reliably sizing and de-priming in one motion. The expander die opens each case mouth to the right diameter for bullet seating and imparts the bell or flare needed for smooth feeding. Finally, the seater die completes the cycle by seating your bullet and applying a roll crimp to lock it in place—critical for reliable feeding and function in revolvers and lever actions.
Carbide dies are the standard for high-volume or regular reloading work. Because carbide won't stick to brass the way steel does, you can skip the lubricant step altogether, which means faster prep, faster cleanup, and no risk of lube gumming up your cases or dies. For .44 handloaders who value efficiency without sacrificing precision, this set removes friction from the process.
Whether you're tuning loads for hunting, target work, or casual plinking, a dedicated three-die set ensures each step of the reloading sequence is optimized for your cartridge. This is the RCBS system that has earned its reputation in the field and at the bench.
| Product | RCBS 18612 3-Die Carbide Set |
| Calibers | .44 Special, .44 Remington Magnum, .44 Russian |
| Die Type | Carbide sizing die, expander die, roll crimp seater die |
| Lubrication | None required for carbide sizer die |
| Application | Revolver and lever-action rifle reloading |
Yes. The RCBS 18612 is designed for .44 Special, .44 Remington Magnum, and .44 Russian. All three cartridges are straight-wall cases compatible with the same die set.
Carbide won't grip brass the way steel dies do, so you don't need to apply case lube before sizing. This saves time on prep and cleanup and reduces the chance of lubricant residue interfering with your reloading process or die performance.
Yes. The set is designed for straight-wall pistol and rifle cases, making it suitable for both revolver and lever-action applications in .44 calibers.
The seater die accomplishes two tasks: it seats the bullet to the correct depth and applies a roll crimp that grips the case mouth around the bullet. This is especially important in revolvers and lever guns, where secure bullet retention ensures reliable feeding and function.
