The RCBS 13501 Full-Length 2-Die Set for .270 Winchester is the foundation of precision rifle reloading. This two-die set includes everything you need to resize and seat .270 Winchester brass: a full-length sizing die that bumps the shoulder, sizes the case body, and removes the spent primer, plus a seater die with an integrated crimp ring for consistent bullet seating. Whether you're loading match ammunition for long-range hunting or working up loads at the bench, a full-length die set handles the core reloading operations that let you fire-form and reload brass multiple times over the life of your barrel.

Full-length sizing is the standard approach for rifle reloaders—especially those new to the craft. The sizing die's expander ball carefully necks the case to proper bullet tension after the shoulder bump and body sizing are complete. The seater die lets you dial in your preferred bullet seating depth and choose whether to crimp or run crimples-free by adjusting die height. The two-die layout keeps your press setup simple and gives you room to add specialty dies later if your technique expands.

RCBS dies are built to tight tolerances and designed for durability; many reloaders wear out multiple rifle barrels using a single RCBS die set. Proper technique matters: cases must be lubricated before full-length sizing, and shoulder bump should be verified with a headspace gauge for best results. If you're starting out with .270 Winchester reloading, this set is a solid, proven choice that will serve you through years of load development and precision shooting.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to lube cases before using the full-length sizing die?

Yes. Cases must be lubricated before full-length sizing to protect them and ensure smooth, uniform sizing.

Can I adjust the crimp, or does this die always crimp?

The seater die includes a built-in crimp ring that you can engage or disengage by raising or lowering the die in your press, giving you the choice to crimp or load without crimp.

Is this die set suitable for a new reloader?

Yes. Full-length die sets are the standard starting point for rifle reloaders. RCBS recommends beginners start with a full-length set and learn proper setup technique before exploring specialty dies.

What is shoulder bump, and how do I set it correctly?

Shoulder bump is the amount the sizing die pushes back the case shoulder. RCBS recommends using a cartridge headspace gauge tool to verify and dial in the correct shoulder bump for your rifle.
