Primary Weapons Systems
The Primary Weapons Systems MK116 Mod 1-M upper receiver in 7.62x39 brings PWS's proven long-stroke piston system to an intermediate cartridge platform built for reliability and shootability. This 16-inch complete upper combines a fully forged T6 7075 aluminum receiver with the mid-length gas system that PWS has refined over years of duty use, making it a solid choice for shooters looking to build or upgrade an AR platform without compromise.
What sets the MK116 apart is the focus on honest, functional design: a free-floating M-Lok handguard that won't bind your barrel, a 3-position adjustable gas regulator to dial in reliability regardless of ammo or conditions, and the Radian Raptor ambidextrous charging handle for smooth, fast reloads from either shoulder. The 1:8 twist rate stabilizes the 7.62x39 cartridge across the velocity range you'll see, and the PWS FSC muzzle device is purpose-built to work within the system.
This is the kind of upper receiver that appeals equally to civilian shooters building a thumper and to folks who just want a rifle that runs without drama. No marketing fluff—just a piston-driven platform engineered for the round and the job.

This is a complete upper receiver assembly designed for AR-15 pattern rifles. You can install it on any AR-15 lower receiver. It comes as a complete upper, so you don't need to source individual components—just pair it with a compatible lower and you're ready to go.
The PWS long-stroke piston system is inherently cleaner and less prone to fouling than direct impingement, which matters when running less-uniform military ammunition or bulk ammo common in 7.62x39. The adjustable gas regulator also lets you fine-tune reliability to your specific load, and piston systems tend to run cooler overall.
This is a complete upper receiver assembly. It includes the barrel, handguard, charging handle, muzzle device, and bolt carrier group. You'll need a lower receiver to complete the rifle, but the upper is ready to function as delivered.
The PWS M-Lok handguard is free-floating, meaning it doesn't contact the barrel, which maintains accuracy. It measures 15.05 inches in length with a 1.7-inch width and 2.25-inch height, giving you plenty of real estate for rails, grips, and accessories. M-Lok is an open standard, so you have broad accessory compatibility.
