The Proof Research 308 Cal 26" Sendero Contour Carbon Fiber Wrapped Bolt Action Barrel Blank is engineered for shooters and gunsmiths who refuse to compromise on weight, durability, or long-range accuracy. This carbon fiber-wrapped barrel blank arrives ready for threading and chambering by your gunsmith, making it an ideal core component for a precision rifle build. The Sendero contour strikes a balance between rigidity and weight savings, while the 1:9" twist rate is optimized for .308 Winchester cartridges across a wide range of bullet weights.
Proof Research's carbon fiber construction delivers a significant weight advantage—up to 64% lighter than conventional steel barrels of comparable contour—without sacrificing the strength or accuracy shooters demand. The wrapped design maintains structural integrity under sustained fire, resists point-of-impact shift during high-volume shooting strings, and reduces harmonic vibration that can degrade precision. Carbon fiber also excels in durability: it resists weather, nicks, dings, and scratches far better than bare steel, making it a practical choice for field rifles and long-range hunting builds that see hard use.
The 26" length and 5-groove rifling provide the velocity potential and stability needed for match-grade accuracy at distance. This is a blank—it requires professional chambering and threading to fit your action—so plan accordingly with your gunsmith. Whether you're building a dedicated competition rig, a long-range hunting rifle, or a backcountry precision system, a Proof Research barrel blank is an investment in a firearm that will shoot flat, stay cool, and last.
| Caliber | .308 (308 Winchester) |
| Barrel Length | 26" |
| Contour | Sendero |
| Twist Rate | 1:9" |
| Grooves | 5 |
| Type | Barrel Blank (requires gunsmith threading and chambering) |
| Construction | Carbon Fiber Wrapped |
| Manufacturer | Proof Research |
This barrel arrives as a blank and must be threaded to fit your specific bolt-action receiver and chambered to .308 Winchester by a gunsmith. Threading pitch and chamber specifications depend on your action, so coordinate with your gunsmith before purchase.
The Sendero contour and threaded configuration depend on your receiver. This barrel is a blank; compatibility is determined by the gunsmith's threading work. Confirm with your gunsmith that your action and desired thread pitch align with this barrel's specifications before ordering.
Yes. A 1:9" twist in .308 Winchester stabilizes most common bullet weights used in hunting and precision rifle competition, from 150-grain to 180-grain projectiles and some heavier options depending on velocity and design.
Proof Research's carbon fiber wrap delivers up to 64% weight savings compared to traditional steel barrels of similar contour, making a significant difference in overall rifle weight without sacrificing rigidity or accuracy.
