The Proof Research 24" carbon fiber wrapped bolt action barrel blank in 264 caliber gives you the foundation for a serious lightweight precision rifle. This Sendero Light contour barrel arrives as a blank—ready for your gunsmith to thread and chamber to your exact specifications. Built around a steel core wrapped in carbon fiber, it delivers the weight savings hunters and long-range shooters chase without sacrificing the rigidity and accuracy you demand from a match-grade barrel.
Weight is the silent killer on long days in the field or at the bench. Proof Research's carbon fiber construction runs up to 64% lighter than a traditional all-steel barrel of comparable dimensions, which translates directly to less fatigue and easier handling—especially in a mountain rifle or precision build where every ounce matters. The 1:7.50" twist rate is optimized for the 264 caliber, and the 4-groove design supports consistent bullet engagement across your preferred load range.
Carbon fiber doesn't just save weight; it changes how a barrel behaves under fire. The material dissipates heat more efficiently than steel, keeping barrel temperatures down during extended strings and reducing the harmonic vibrations that can walk your point of impact. You get cooler, more stable shooting sessions without the thermal shift that plagues traditional barrels during high-volume fire. The carbon wrap also shrugs off the dings, nicks, and weather that would mark up a bare steel tube, making this barrel as practical in the field as it is accurate on the range.
This is a barrel blank—no threads or chamber yet. Work with your gunsmith to specify your exact thread pitch, chamber spec, and any finish or modifications you need. Proof Research's reputation for precision means you're starting with a component built to exacting standards, so your gunsmith can focus on delivering the accuracy and fit your rifle demands.

Yes. This barrel arrives unthreaded and unchamered. You'll need a qualified gunsmith to thread the muzzle and breech, chamber it to your preferred specification, and potentially crown or profile the muzzle. It's the right choice if you're building a custom rifle or want your gunsmith to fit it to your exact receiver and ammunition specs.
Proof Research's carbon fiber wrapped barrels run up to 64% lighter than traditional all-steel barrels of comparable dimensions. The exact savings depend on the baseline steel barrel, but the weight reduction is substantial enough to make a real difference in a mountain rifle or precision build.
Yes. The carbon fiber wrap is highly resistant to nicks, dings, scratches, and weather exposure—much more durable cosmetically than a bare steel barrel. It's designed for serious hunting and shooting use, not just bench work.
The 1:7.50" twist rate is optimized for 264 caliber and supports the bullet weights and velocities typical of that cartridge. Your gunsmith can confirm it matches your intended load and bullet selection during the chambering process.
