The Pedersoli 1853 Enfield Whitworth 3-Band muzzleloading rifle is a faithful reproduction of one of the 19th century's most celebrated percussion muskets—prized for its accuracy and robust construction. Built by Pedersoli, a master Italian gunmaker, this .45 caliber rifle channels the ballistics and handling characteristics of the original Whitworth, favored by Civil War sharpshooters and British military marksmen. At 36 inches, the browned barrel delivers the sight radius and velocity that serious black powder shooters expect, while the walnut stock and traditional 3-band configuration give it the authentic heft and balance of a genuine military arm.
Whether you're drawn to historical reenactment, long-range muzzleloader competition, or the pure satisfaction of shooting a period-correct rifle, the Enfield Whitworth rewards careful loading and disciplined marksmanship. The percussion ignition system is straightforward and reliable—no flintlock whims, just proven 1800s technology. The walnut furniture and browned barrel patina aren't just eye candy; they reflect the craftsmanship you'd expect from a rifle that costs what it costs. This is a rifle for shooters who know their history and respect the engineering.
Pedersoli rifles are built to shoot, not just display. The fixed checkered walnut stock provides a secure grip even in field conditions, and the three-band configuration keeps the barrel harmonics consistent. If you're serious about muzzleloader accuracy or authenticity, the Enfield Whitworth is a logical choice—it's been the standard-bearer for replica black powder rifles for good reason.

The original Enfield Whitworth was a British military rifle noted for exceptional accuracy during the 1850s–1860s. It saw service in the Crimean War and American Civil War, where Confederate and Union sharpshooters alike prized it for its reliability and precision. This Pedersoli reproduction captures the same design and ballistic character.
Yes. The 3-band walnut-stocked configuration, browned barrel, and percussion ignition system are all period-correct for mid-19th century military and civilian use. Check your reenactment group's rules, but the Enfield Whitworth is a standard choice for authenticity-focused events.
The Enfield Whitworth was designed for precision, and Pedersoli's reproduction honors that legacy. Actual performance depends on your powder charge, projectile, and shooting skill—but muzzleloader competitors and serious shooters regularly achieve impressive groups with properly-tuned Whitworth rifles.
We've provided the caliber and ignition type (percussion); consult our staff or a black powder specialty supplier for current availability of .45 round balls, patches, and percussion caps in your area.
