The Patriot Ordnance Factory 00306 steel roller cam pin is a precision upgrade for AR-platform rifles chambered in .308 Win/7.62x51mm NATO. This is a direct replacement for the standard cam pin in your .308 bolt carrier group—a small but critical component that guides the bolt's rotation and keeps your rifle running reliably through thousands of rounds. POF engineered this pin with an NP3 coating, a nickel-Teflon composite that reduces friction, resists corrosion, and makes cleaning easier. If you're running a POF P308 or another quality .308 platform rifle and want to upgrade to smoother, longer-lasting internals, this roller cam pin delivers measurable improvements in bolt cycling and durability.

NP3 coating offers real advantages for .308 shooters and hunters who demand reliability in harsh conditions. The slick finish minimizes wear on mating surfaces, which means your bolt carrier group cycles more smoothly and your rifle stays cleaner longer—especially valuable if you're pushing through extended range sessions or hunting in wet, dusty, or sandy terrain. As a roller pin, it also handles the higher operating pressures of .308 ammunition better than standard designs, making it a smart choice for precision rifle builds and modern sporting rifles that see regular use.

Installation is straightforward: this is a drop-in replacement that requires no fitting or modification. Whether you're refreshing an older rifle, upgrading a new build, or maintaining a rifle that sees frequent use, the POF 00306 is a no-nonsense upgrade that speaks to shooters who understand that internal reliability matters as much as what you see on the outside.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the POF 00306 cam pin compatible with my .308 rifle?

Yes, this is a roller cam pin designed for .308 Win/7.62x51mm NATO AR-platform rifles. It's a direct replacement for the standard cam pin in your bolt carrier group and requires no special fitting.

What does the NP3 coating do?

NP3 is a nickel-Teflon composite coating that reduces friction between the cam pin and bolt carrier, resists corrosion, and makes cleanup easier. This translates to smoother cycling and longer component life, especially in demanding conditions.

Do I need any special tools to install this cam pin?

No. The POF 00306 is a drop-in replacement that installs like a standard cam pin. No fitting, modification, or specialized tools are required.

What's the difference between a roller cam pin and a standard cam pin?

A roller cam pin uses a rolling mechanism to handle the rotational forces in your bolt carrier group. Roller designs are engineered to manage the higher pressures of .308 ammunition better than flat cam pins and typically offer smoother cycling and reduced wear.
