PACHMAYR
The Pachmayr 500B Grind-to-Fit Recoil Pad is a custom-fit solution for shooters who want to soften recoil and improve their gun's handling without replacing the entire stock. Built from high-grade rubber with a basketweave texture face, this 0.4" thick pad absorbs impact progressively through internal ribbing while keeping your gun seated firmly on your shoulder. It's designed to be shaped and sanded to fit your specific stock, making it ideal for hunters and riflemen who want a professional, personalized fit without a gunsmith's bill.
Pachmayr recoil pads have been the industry standard for decades because they work. The basketweave surface pattern grips your shoulder reliably, preventing the gun from slipping during recoil. The engineering is straightforward—internal ribs distribute the shock gradually rather than transferring it as a sharp jolt, which means less fatigue over a long day at the range or in the field. The 500B model's screw hole spacing and tapered toe accommodate a wide range of rifle stocks, and the rubber grinds and sands cleanly, so whether you're a hobbyist or a serious handloader, you can dial in the fit yourself.
This pad is favored by custom rifle builders and savvy shooters who understand that comfort and control are inseparable. If you're working with a rifle that doesn't have a recoil pad, or you're replacing a worn one with something more durable and functional, the 500B delivers straightforward, proven performance. No hype, no complicated installation—just better shooting.

The 500B is engineered with variable screw hole spacing and toe taper to fit a wide range of rifle stocks. Because it's a grind-to-fit pad, you can customize the fit to your specific stock. If you're uncertain whether it will work with your rifle, check your stock dimensions and hole pattern against the pad's design, or consult with a gunsmith.
No. The Pachmayr 500B is designed for end-user installation and custom fitting. You can shape and sand the rubber yourself to match your stock contour. Many shooters and handloaders install these pads in their own shops. That said, a gunsmith can ensure a perfect fit if you prefer professional work.
The pad uses internal ribbing to gradually absorb and distribute recoil energy, which reduces felt recoil and shoulder impact compared to a bare stock. The actual reduction depends on your rifle's caliber, your gun's weight, and your physiology, but Pachmayr pads have been the standard for decades because they work reliably across a broad range of firearms.
It means the rubber is designed to be shaped and sanded to match the exact contour of your rifle stock. This allows you to achieve a custom fit without the pad binding or creating gaps between the pad and stock.
