Mustad Hooks
The Mustad Sabiki Rig Circle Bait Maker Size 2 is a versatile rigged setup built around Mustad's circle hooks, designed to help anglers catch bait efficiently or target smaller to medium gamefish depending on your approach. This rig combines the proven fish-holding geometry of circle hooks with a practical, pre-assembled sabiki configuration, so you spend less time tying and more time fishing. The Size 2 with 40/30lb rating suits anglers working inshore and coastal waters where panfish, mackerel, and other scrappy species hold, making it a reliable choice whether you're chunking for live bait or going after fish on the receiving end of a sabiki.
Each rig comes rigged and ready to deploy. You get a snap swivel at one end for quick weight attachment and a swivel at the opposite end for tying to your main line. That streamlined rigging means no fumbling with multiple droppers or knots when you need to get in the water fast. The circle hook design works across a range of species and presentations, and the 40/30lb line rating gives you the breaking strength you need for reliable hooksets without overkill in lighter conditions.
Sabiki rigs are a time-tested tool in the saltwater and inshore toolbox—whether you're loading a live well, testing the water, or chunking deep. The Mustad version benefits from the brand's long history in hook design, so you're using hooks proven in commercial and sport fisheries worldwide. This Size 2 rig is a no-fuss addition to your tackle box that handles multiple missions across a day on the water.
| Hook Size | Size 2 |
| Hook Type | Circle Hook |
| Line Rating | 40/30lb |
| Rig Type | Sabiki Rig (pre-rigged) |
| Hardware | Snap swivel and main-line swivel included |
| Brand | Mustad Hooks |
The Size 2 rigging is effective for baitfish like mackerel and smaller panfish, and also works as a live-bait or chunking rig for inshore gamefish. Exact target species depend on your local conditions and how you fish it, but the Size 2 circle hooks are sized for the middle range of inshore saltwater scenarios.
The rig arrives fully rigged with hooks, droppers, and swivels assembled. You only need to tie your main line to the swivel at one end and attach your weight to the snap swivel at the other.
Circle hooks are designed to hook fish in the corner of the mouth rather than deep in the throat, which improves your landing rate and makes catch-and-release safer. They also reduce the need for an aggressive hookset—the rod's natural lift often sets them automatically.
Yes. The 40/30lb line rating is appropriate for inshore and coastal saltwater fishing. The Mustad hook and swivel hardware are built to handle salt conditions, though regular rinsing after use is always a good practice to extend the life of any rig.
