The MTM Case-Gard AC50C11 50 Cal Ammo Can is a rugged polypropylene storage box built for shooters who need reliable, portable ammunition organization. Unlike traditional military surplus steel cans, this all-plastic design weighs significantly less while maintaining the same bulk-capacity footprint, making it ideal for hauling ammo to the range, storing reloading components, or securing inventory in a basement, garage, or shed. The forest green finish fits naturally into any shooting space without the industrial look of surplus gear.

Built from durable molded polypropylene, the AC50C11 is engineered to handle real-world use—from truck beds to range bags to long-term storage. MTM's signature tongue-and-groove O-Ring seal system creates a water-resistant barrier that protects ammunition from humidity and environmental moisture, a critical feature for anyone storing ammo in variable climates. The dual heavy-duty latch system ensures the lid stays shut under transport or stacking, while padlock tabs let you secure the can if needed.

Capacity depends on what you're storing: the can holds roughly 1,200 rounds of 5.56, 2,200 rounds of 9mm, 1,750 rounds of .40 S&W, 1,300 rounds of .45 ACP, 640 rounds of .308, or 250 rounds of 12-gauge shotshell. Beyond ammo, the can works for any gear weighing up to 30 pounds—decoy weights, range tools, or emergency supplies. Molded-in stacking ridges let you safely stack multiple cans without slipping, a practical feature for anyone building a serious ammunition library.

This is a straightforward storage solution: no internal tray, no frills, just honest construction that does its job. If you've outgrown cardboard boxes or want something lighter than steel surplus cans, the MTM 50 Cal Ammo Can is a field-tested choice.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much ammo can the MTM 50 Cal Ammo Can hold?

Capacity varies by caliber. The can holds approximately 1,200 rounds of 5.56, 2,200 rounds of 9mm, 1,750 rounds of .40 S&W, 1,300 rounds of .45 ACP, 640 rounds of .308, or 250 rounds of 12-gauge shotshell. The can can safely carry any combination totaling up to 30 pounds of gear.

Is the seal waterproof and how does it work?

The AC50C11 uses MTM's tongue-and-groove O-Ring seal system, which provides a water-resistant seal designed to protect ammunition from moisture and humidity. It is not a military-grade hermetic seal, but it is effective for standard storage conditions in basements, garages, and sheds.

Can I stack multiple ammo cans on top of each other?

Yes. The AC50C11 features molded-in stacking ridges that prevent the cans from slipping when stacked, making it safe and practical to build vertical storage systems.

Is there a tray inside the can to organize ammo?

No. The AC50C11 does not include an internal tray or dividers—it is open storage space designed for bulk ammunition or other gear.
