Strike King
The Mr. Crappie Lil' Sucker 1.5" Lil' Johnny is a compact shad-profile swim bait designed specifically for crappie anglers targeting pressured fish in lakes and ponds. This small bait features a natural paddle tail that produces a subtle, lifelike swimming motion—exactly the kind of action that tempts crappie when they've seen too many conventional offerings. At 1.5 inches, it's sized for crappie that prefer a smaller profile, making it ideal for situations where bigger baits draw blanks.
The Lil' Johnny's hot tail color scheme mimics the natural baitfish that crappie feed on, triggering instinctive strikes even when fish are reluctant. Its compact size and balanced design make it exceptionally effective when rigged on light jig heads—anglers report excellent results with 1/16 oz. and 1/32 oz. Teen-Zee Sausage Head jigs, which pair perfectly with this bait's modest weight. That combination keeps you in the strike zone longer on vertical presentations and allows you to fish shallow cover without snagging.
Whether you're working channel structure, fallen timber, or brush piles, the Lil' Sucker delivers the finesse approach that separates successful crappie days from mediocre ones. Its realistic profile and natural motion work year-round, but it's especially deadly during pre-spawn and post-spawn periods when crappie target smaller forage.
The Lil' Sucker 1.5" performs exceptionally well on 1/16 oz. and 1/32 oz. Teen-Zee Sausage Head jigs. These lighter heads keep the bait in the strike zone and allow for precise presentations in shallow water and around structure.
Yes. The hot tail color scheme and subtle swimming action are specifically designed to entice crappie that have been exposed to heavy fishing pressure and may ignore standard offerings.
The 1.5-inch profile appeals to a wide range of crappie sizes, making it versatile across different seasons and water conditions.
