Mossberg
The Mossberg Maverick 88 Security/Field Combo 12ga pump-action shotgun is built for shooters who need versatility without the premium price tag. This two-barrel set gives you genuine flexibility: grab the 18.5" security barrel for home defense or close-quarters work, then swap to the 28" field barrel when you're heading into the field for hunting or clay shooting. It's the kind of practical, no-nonsense approach that defines Mossberg's reputation in the shotgun world.
Under the hood, the Maverick 88 uses time-tested pump-action mechanics: dual extractors, steel-to-steel lockup, twin action bars, and an anti-jam elevator that keep things running smooth regardless of load or conditions. The cross-bolt safety is intuitive and reliable. At roughly 6.25 lbs with the security barrel and 7 lbs with the field barrel, it handles like a shotgun should—balanced enough for sustained shooting but substantial enough to manage recoil.
What really makes the combo sing is compatibility. Both barrels work with Mossberg 500 accessory stocks, barrels, and Accu-choke tubes (within gauge and capacity), so if you want to customize or upgrade down the road, you've got options. The security barrel ships as cylinder bore; the field barrel comes with a modified choke tube, covering common hunting and sport-shooting needs straight out of the box. Synthetic black furniture is durable and low-maintenance.
Whether you're a first-time shotgun buyer, a hunter who wants one gun to do multiple jobs, or someone building a home-defense setup without breaking the bank, the Maverick 88 combo delivers proven reliability and real-world flexibility.
