Mossberg
The Mossberg Maverick 88 is a no-nonsense 20-gauge pump-action shotgun built for hunters and sport shooters who want straightforward reliability without the premium price tag. With its 26-inch barrel, manageable recoil, and 5+1 capacity, this all-purpose shotgun handles everything from upland game to clay courses. The synthetic black stock keeps maintenance simple, while the vent-rib barrel and dual-bead sighting system give you a clear sight picture in the field.
What makes the Maverick 88 stand out in the pump-action shotgun category is its proven mechanics. Dual extractors, steel-to-steel lockup, and twin action bars work together to keep the gun cycling reliably, even in less-than-ideal conditions. The cross-bolt safety is intuitive and easy to find by feel. A 3-inch chamber gives you flexibility in ammunition selection, and the modified choke tube lets you dial in your shot pattern for the game you're pursuing.
At 7 pounds and 45.25 inches overall, it's light enough to carry all day but substantial enough to handle standard loads without excessive muzzle climb. The 14-inch length of pull fits most adult shooters comfortably. Whether you're heading to a hunting camp, an afternoon at the range, or need a home-defense option that you're comfortable depending on, the Maverick 88 delivers solid performance with minimal fuss.
