The Midwest Industries MK2 Acro Aimpoint mount with 1/3 cowitness height is purpose-built for shooters running a red dot or reflex sight who need both performance and a lower-mounted sight picture. This 1/3 cowitness mount positions your optic so your iron sights remain visible in your peripheral vision—a setup favored by tactical shooters and hunters who want backup aiming references without sacrificing sight-line symmetry. The 1/3 height sits between absolute and lower positions, giving you that Goldilocks balance for rifle platforms where you want irons to cowitness without overwhelming the frame.

Built from hard-coat anodized 6061 aluminum and precision-machined for return-to-zero reliability, the MK2 series doesn't cut corners on materials or craftsmanship. The clamp system uses 4140 heat-treated steel—the same stuff found in quality rifle actions—for strength that won't shift under recoil or abuse. Torx hardware is integrated into the clamps themselves, reducing parts scatter and making field adjustments straightforward. Everything is made in the USA and backed by Midwest Industries' lifetime warranty, so you're investing in a mount that will outlast trends.

Installation is simplified with the included Midwest Industries Optic Mount Tool, so you can get your red dot level and torqued to spec without guessing. At 2.4 ounces, the 1/3 cowitness version adds minimal weight to your upper while delivering the rock-solid platform your optic demands. Whether you're building a patrol rifle, a home-defense setup, or a dedicated range gun, this mount gives you the flexibility and durability serious shooters expect.

Frequently Asked Questions

What red dots fit the MK2 Acro Aimpoint mount?

This mount is engineered for optics with the Aimpoint Acro footprint. If you're running a different red dot pattern (RMR, T2, Micro clone, or other), Midwest Industries makes dedicated MK2 mounts for those systems, and optic-specific replacement scope ring caps are available separately.

What's the difference between 1/3 cowitness and other heights?

The 1/3 cowitness height positions your red dot so your iron sights remain in your field of view without blocking or dominating the sight picture. Low mounts sit closer to the barrel for absolute lowest-possible sight line. Absolute cowitness puts irons and red dot at the same height. 1/3 cowitness is popular on rifles where shooters want both backup irons and a clean red dot image.

Does this mount come with installation tools?

Yes. The MK2 Acro Aimpoint mount includes the Midwest Industries Optic Mount Tool, which simplifies installation and adjustment so you can properly torque your optic to spec without guessing or improvising with makeshift tools.

Will my optic maintain zero after mounting?

The MK2 is precision-machined for optimal return-to-zero performance. As long as you torque the clamps to the recommended 35 foot-pounds and ensure your optic is seated fully, the mount is engineered to hold your sight picture through hard use and recoil.
