The Mec-Gar MGP22810B is a 10-round 9mm Luger magazine purpose-built for Sig Sauer P228 and earlier P229 pistols. If you're running a classic P228 or an older P229 and need a reliable, no-fuss spare magazine, this is the real deal—a straightforward, time-tested option from a manufacturer that's been supplying OEM and aftermarket mags for decades. The flat-sided, narrow profile fits the geometry of these earlier Sig models, making it a direct fit without modification or fitment guesswork.
Build quality here is straightforward and honest. The mag uses a carbon steel tube that's been heat-treated to withstand repeated loading, feeding, and ejection cycles. The spring is high-tensile music wire—the kind of material you'll find in duty magazines—and the polymer follower keeps rounds stacked and ready. This isn't flashy; it's just built to work every time you need it. Whether you're stocking spares for regular range sessions or keeping a backup loaded and ready, a quality mag is insurance you can count on.
One important note: this magazine is designed for the flat-sided P228 and pre-E2 P229 frame. It won't fit newer P229 E2 models, which use a wider, tapered magazine. And it's not compatible with Taurus PT-111 G2 pistols despite similar caliber. Make sure you're matching it to the right gun before you buy.
