Marlin
The Marlin 1895 lever-action rifle in .45-70 Government is a modern take on an American classic—a compact, hard-hitting rifle built for hunters who need stopping power in tight spaces. This 16.17-inch barreled Trapper model pairs traditional lever-action handling with contemporary features: a cold hammer-forged stainless steel barrel, Magpul ELG furniture, Skinner Sights, and enough modularity to set it up your way. At 7.25 pounds and 33.25 inches overall, it's the kind of rifle that rides easy in a truck rack or dense timber, yet delivers the ballistics of a cartridge that's proven itself on everything from whitetail to elk over the past 130 years.
What makes this .45-70 lever gun stand out is the thoughtful engineering under the Ruger quality standard. The receiver and trigger guard are CNC machined from 416 stainless steel forgings. The barrel itself—cold hammer-forged 410 stainless with a 1:20 right-hand twist—is threaded 11/16-24, ready for a muzzle brake or suppressor. A nitride-finished bolt glides smoothly through the action, and the oversized lever loop gives you room to work even with gloved hands. Five rounds feed from a tubular magazine; an ammunition quiver built into the stock holds six more within reach. The Magpul ELG stock and forend aren't just light and durable—they're modular. Three length-of-pull spacers (in 1/2-inch increments) and a cheek riser with two additional spacers let you dial in your fit and sight picture, whether you're shooting open sights or mounting optics.
Out of the box, this Trapper wears Skinner Sights: a blade up front and an adjustable peep on the receiver for quick, close-range shooting. The satin stainless finish on the barrel and receiver paired with black hardware gives it a purposeful, trail-ready look. A push-button cross-bolt safety and traditional half-cock hammer keep things intuitive. Feed it any factory .45-70 ammo and it'll cycle reliably—this cartridge and platform combo has earned its reputation in the field, and the cold hammer-forged barrel delivers the accuracy to match.
