Magpul
The Magpul MBUS Gen 2 flip-up front sight is a polymer backup iron sight designed for AR-15 platforms that need a reliable secondary sighting system. Built to deploy instantly when your primary optic fails or when you need iron sights for close-quarters work, this sight combines practical engineering with the durability Magpul is known for. Its low-profile design folds flat against your receiver rail, staying out of the way and out of trouble until you need it.
What makes the MBUS Gen 2 stand out in the crowded backup sight market is its thoughtful handling. The ambidextrous, spring-loaded release tabs sit on both sides of the sight, so you can deploy or retract with either hand—no fumbling, no complicated manipulations. The streamlined contours mean there's nothing to catch on brush, slings, or your other gear when the sight is folded. The whole package takes up less than an inch of your Picatinny rail real estate and locks down tight with an included steel crossbolt. Height over bore matches standard A2 iron sights, so it will cowitness with most rear sight options.
This is a working sight for shooters who refuse to bet everything on a single point of failure. Whether you're running a rifle for hunting, home defense, or the range, the MBUS Gen 2 gives you a backup plan that doesn't add weight or complexity.
