Lyman
The Lyman Series 17A Target Front Sights are precision-engineered front sight options for shooters and competitive marksmen who demand accuracy and repeatability. The 17 AMI variant sits low at .494" sight height, designed to work seamlessly with receiver sights like Lyman's 57SML and other compatible rear sight systems. Whether you're dialing in a competition rifle, setting up a hunting gun for precision shooting, or restoring a classic firearm, this modular front sight gives you the flexibility to dial in your sight picture without major gunsmithing.
What sets the Series 17A apart is the included set of eight interchangeable inserts—a feature that lets you customize your sight picture for different lighting conditions, shooting distances, or personal preference. The inserts swap quickly, so you can adapt your sight configuration to match your setup or ammunition without swapping out the entire sight assembly. The steel construction and standard 3/8" dovetail mount ensure robust fitment and durability through years of range work or field use.
The 17 AMI's low .494" height pairs well with barrel-hugging dovetails, keeping your sight profile sleek and your cheek weld consistent. If your rifle runs a tall vernier rear sight, Lyman also offers the 17ATC variant at .852" height for proper sight alignment. Both versions deliver the same quality machining and modular philosophy—precision tooling that doesn't demand you compromise on repeatability or ruggedness.

The 17 AMI is designed as the ideal companion to receiver sights like the Lyman 57SML. The .494" height is optimized for low-profile setups with compatible rear sight systems.
The 17 AMI is sized for lower sight lines. If your rifle uses a tall vernier rear sight, Lyman offers the 17ATC variant, which sits at .852" height for proper sight alignment.
The eight included inserts allow you to swap out your sight picture without removing the sight body—useful for adapting to different lighting, distance, or shooting conditions.
The standard 3/8" dovetail is common on many rifles, but fitment varies by make and model. Check your barrel or receiver documentation to confirm 3/8" dovetail compatibility before ordering.
