Luth-Ar
The Luth-AR Standard Carbine Buffer for .223/5.56 AR-15 Rifles is a straightforward, no-frills recoil buffer engineered for reliable performance in the vast majority of AR-15 carbine builds. Loaded with three steel slugs totaling 3.2 ounces, this standard-weight buffer is the go-to choice for shooters running common .223/5.56 setups. It's designed to handle the bolt carrier's rearward travel consistently, shot after shot, whether you're running a stock-length tube or something slightly heavier than factory.
If you're building or maintaining an AR-15 carbine and haven't given much thought to your buffer—or you inherited one that's seen better days—this Luth-AR replacement drops in like it belongs there. Standard weight works across a wide range of upper and lower combinations, barrel profiles, and firing pin configurations without the tuning headaches that come with heavier or lighter alternatives. Installation is straightforward; pull the castle nut, slide it out, drop this one in, and move on.
Built to withstand regular use without drama, the three-slug construction keeps things simple and proven. There's no marketing magic here—just a buffer that functions as intended in most AR-15 carbine configurations. Whether you're zeroing a new rifle, running drills at the range, or just need a reliable replacement, the Luth-AR Standard Carbine Buffer delivers the dependability that makes AR-15s so popular among hunters, competitors, and shooters across the board.
| Caliber | .223/5.56 |
| Type | Standard Carbine Buffer |
| Weight | 0.1900 lbs (3.2 oz) |
| Steel Slugs | Three |
| Dimensions | 3.25 × 1.00 × 1.00 in |
The Luth-AR Standard Carbine Buffer is compatible with most AR-15 carbine configurations in .223/5.56. Standard weight is the most common choice and should function reliably in typical builds with stock uppers and lowers.
Buffer weight affects the cycle rate and recoil impulse of your rifle. Standard weight (like this 3.2 oz model) is the baseline; it works across the broadest range of AR-15 setups without requiring tuning. Heavier buffers slow the cycle for reduced recoil, while lighter ones speed it up.
No. Installation is basic AR-15 maintenance: remove the castle nut, slide out the old buffer, insert the new one, and reinstall the castle nut. No special tools required.
This buffer is designed for .223/5.56 caliber AR-15 rifles.
