Lews Fishing
The Lews Wally Marshall Classic Jigging Rod is a 7-foot one-piece light-power jigging rod built for crappie anglers who demand sensitivity and backbone in equal measure. Designed in collaboration with legendary crappie specialist Wally Marshall, this rod combines IM8 graphite blanks with stainless steel guides and a lightweight graphite reel seat—a setup that lets you detect the softest bite while still commanding enough power to extract slab crappie from dense cover and deep structure. Whether you're vertically jigging channel ledges, probing submerged timber, or working brush piles, this 7-footer strikes the balance that makes it versatile enough for both close-range precision work and traditional jigging applications.
The IM8 blank engineering is where the Classic Jigging Rod earns its reputation. The taper delivers a responsive tip that telegraphs every tap and nibble, yet the backbone remains solid enough to drive the hook and wrestle big fish out of snags. Anglers appreciate rods that let them feel what's happening at the end of the line—and that's exactly what the Classic Jigging delivers. The stainless steel guides and inserts resist corrosion and wear, which matters when you're spending seasons on the water. The graphite reel seat keeps weight down, preserving that critical sensitivity through the handle.
At 7 feet, this jigging rod occupies that sweet spot for crappie fishing. It's long enough to manage vertical presentations and adjust line angle during the fight, but short enough to maneuver in tight quarters if you're working around docks or shallow cover. The one-piece construction eliminates any joint weakness and contributes to overall responsiveness. Light power gives you the finesse needed for finicky crappie while retaining enough grit for the slab-sized fish that make the effort worthwhile.
| Length | 7 feet |
| Pieces | 1 |
| Power | Light |
| Blank Material | IM8 Graphite |
| Guides | Stainless Steel |
| Reel Seat | Lightweight Graphite |
| Handle | Premium Cork |
This rod is optimized for vertical jigging presentations—dropping baits or lures straight down to structure and detecting strikes through the sensitive tip. Its 7-foot length also works for traditional jigging techniques and gives you enough reach to adjust angles during the fight.
The Wally Marshall Classic Jigging Rod is a one-piece design, which eliminates any weakness at a joint and delivers more direct responsiveness and power transfer.
The IM8 blank is engineered to balance a fast, sensitive tip that detects soft bites with a strong backbone capable of driving the hook and controlling big fish. This design philosophy is what Wally Marshall requested for reliable crappie fishing across a range of depths and cover conditions.
Yes. Despite the light power rating, the IM8 blank has sufficient backbone to fight and land slab-sized crappie. The solid construction and stainless steel guides provide the durability and control needed when larger fish run into cover.
