Leupold
The Leupold BackCountry cross-slot base for Remington 700 Long Action rifles is engineered for hunters and precision shooters who refuse to compromise on weight or durability. Built from 7075-T6 aluminum—the same material found in aircraft and high-end tactical gear—this one-piece scope mount delivers exceptional strength at just 1.8 ounces. Whether you're glassing from a mountain ridge, hunting at elevation, or setting up for a long-range session at the bench, a lighter mount means less mass to carry and faster target acquisition.
What sets the BackCountry base apart is its adapter flexibility. The cross-slot design accepts both Picatinny- and Weaver-style rings, so you aren't locked into a single ring ecosystem. The base comes with two sets of mounting screws—8-40 and 6-48—giving you the right hardware for your specific rifle's receiver. Installation is straightforward; the base mounts to your Remington 700 Long Action with a torque spec of 22 in-lbs, and there's zero cant built in, meaning your scope sits true to your rifle's bore.
Leupold's BackCountry line prioritizes the minimalist ethos: lighter gear means you can move faster, climb higher, and stay in the field longer. This base pairs seamlessly with quality rings and your favorite Leupold or third-party scope, giving you a rock-solid platform without the bulk or weight penalty of heavier mounts.
