Lehigh Defense
Lehigh Defense Xtreme Defense 9mm 118 grain solid copper lead-free bullets deliver serious stopping power for handloaders who demand terminal performance without compromise. Built on proven Xtreme Penetrator technology, these all-copper projectiles are engineered to create a massive permanent wound cavity while keeping penetration depth controlled—typically around 18 inches—so you get consistent, reliable performance across a wide range of defensive scenarios. If you're reloading 9mm for self-defense or duty use and want barrier-blind performance without the lead exposure, these are worth a hard look.
What makes the XD design stand out is the fluted nose geometry. It generates an enormous wound cavity—significantly larger than conventional expanding hollowpoints—while the solid copper construction ensures the bullet holds together through barriers like wallboard, sheet metal, and automotive glass without deflecting or fragmenting. You get consistent expansion and penetration whether you're shooting into soft tissue, heavy clothing, or hard cover. The lead-free construction also means cleaner handloading sessions and no hazmat shipping restrictions, which matters if you're stocking up.
These are solid-copper projectiles (no jacket, no lead core), so they behave differently than traditional cup-and-core bullets during expansion. Reloaders should chronograph and test loads carefully before carrying or depending on them, especially if you're new to copper bullets. They typically run slightly faster than lead-core equivalents at the same powder charge, so start conservative and work up. The 118-grain weight is light for 9mm, which can help with velocity and recoil management in lighter or compact pistols.
Box of 50 bullets ships ready to reload. These work in any 9mm reloading setup, but always verify feed reliability in your specific firearm before trusting any ammunition for defense.
| Caliber | 9mm |
| Weight | 118 grains |
| Material | Solid copper, lead-free |
| Design | Xtreme Defense (XD) with fluted nose |
| Quantity | 50 bullets per box |
| Intended Use | Handgun reloading |
Yes—they're engineered specifically for defensive performance. The Xtreme Defense design creates a large wound cavity and penetrates reliably through barriers. However, always test your finished loads in your firearm for feed reliability and impact accuracy before carrying them for any critical purpose.
Yes, they work with any 9mm reloading setup. Because they're solid copper (not cup-and-core), they typically require slightly different powder charges than lead-core bullets of the same weight. Start conservative, chronograph your loads, and work up carefully.
Solid copper bullets eliminate lead exposure during handloading and case handling, which is cleaner and healthier for high-volume reloaders. They also ship without hazmat restrictions. Performance-wise, they expand differently than traditional bullets, so always test in your specific firearm.
The Xtreme Defense design is purpose-built for barrier performance and large wound cavity creation. Your results depend on loading them correctly. Verify feed reliability and impact performance in your firearm before relying on any handload for defense.
