HSM Bear Ammunition in 45-70 Government +P delivers the stopping power and reliability you need in serious hunting territory. This heavy-for-caliber load pairs a 430-grain lead round nose flat point (LRNFP) projectile with a gas check for consistent performance through lever-action rifles and modern single-shots alike. Since its introduction in 2011, HSM's Bear Load has earned a reputation among hunters and guides who operate where bears roam and mistakes aren't an option. Each round is built with hard cast bullets, temperature-stable powders, and quality brass—the kind of ammunition that performs when conditions are at their worst.
The 45-70 Government remains one of the most versatile big-game cartridges in North America, capable of taking everything from elk to dangerous game at moderate ranges. The +P designation means this load is optimized for modern firearms that can safely handle higher pressures; always verify your rifle's specifications before use. A 430-grain bullet at this velocity delivers deep penetration and a wide wound channel—characteristics that matter when you're hunting in remote country or managing problem bears.
HSM loads ammunition in-house and controls every variable, from component selection to final quality checks. The hard cast construction resists deformation and separation, ensuring reliable expansion and penetration. For hunters who spend serious time in backcountry where bears are a real consideration, or for those who simply demand premium ammunition reliability, HSM Bear Load is a proven choice that won't let you down.
