The Hornady Precision Hunter 7mm PRC 175 Grain ELD-X rounds deliver the accuracy and terminal performance serious long-range hunters demand. Built on the modern 7mm PRC cartridge platform, these loads pair a proven magnum-class cartridge with Hornady's ELD-X bullet technology—a combination engineered to close the distance on elk, mule deer, and other medium to large game at extended ranges. The 7mm PRC itself was designed from the ground up for today's high-BC bullets and modern long-action rifles, giving you velocity and precision in a package that doesn't require exotic powders or gunsmithing to shoot well.

What makes the 7mm PRC stand out is its shoulder-headspacing design and case geometry developed using the same methodology that made the 6.5 Creedmoor a benchrest and hunting standard. The result is excellent chamber alignment and repeatable accuracy. The cartridge burns temperature-stable magnum powders, so your velocity stays consistent shot to shot and your barrel lasts longer than it would with many competing large magnums. If you already own a 7mm Rem Mag or 300 Win Mag rifle, a simple barrel swap gets you into the 7mm PRC—no action changes needed.

The 175-grain ELD-X bullet is the sweet spot for the 7mm PRC's design window. It's heavy enough to take advantage of the cartridge's velocity potential while staying within the overall length limits for standard long actions. The polymer tip initiates expansion reliably on game, and the secant ogive profile boasts a high ballistic coefficient for minimal wind drift and drop at distance. This isn't match ammo—it's purpose-built hunting ammunition for shooters who want terminal performance matched to precision engineering.

Frequently Asked Questions

What rifles can I use 7mm PRC ammunition in?

7mm PRC is designed for standard long-action rifles with a 1:8" twist rate. If you own a rifle chambered in 7mm Rem Mag or 300 Win Mag, you can convert it to 7mm PRC with just a barrel swap—no action modification required.

Will the 175-grain ELD-X work for hunting large game?

Yes. The 175-grain ELD-X is the optimal bullet weight for the 7mm PRC design, delivering both the velocity and terminal performance needed for elk, mule deer, and similar medium to large game at extended ranges.

Why is the 7mm PRC accurate?

The 7mm PRC uses a non-belted, shoulder-headspacing design and case geometry developed with the same engineering principles as the 6.5 Creedmoor. This ensures excellent chamber alignment and repeatable accuracy. The cartridge was also designed to use temperature-stable magnum powders, which give you consistent velocity shot to shot.

What's included in the box?

Each box contains 20 rounds of factory-loaded 7mm PRC ammunition with 175-grain ELD-X bullets.
