Hornady
The Hornady Outfitter 6.5 Creedmoor 120gr CX lead-free rifle ammo is purpose-built for hunters working far from the truck and deep into challenging terrain. This is ammunition designed to handle whatever the backcountry—or your local hunting grounds—throw at it. The CX bullet is a copper-alloy expanding design that delivers the kind of controlled, reliable performance you need when a clean harvest matters and a second shot may not be an option.
What sets Outfitter apart is its attention to environmental sealing. The nickel-plated cases resist corrosion and moisture, and the primer and case mouth are sealed watertight—a real advantage when you're glassing from a ridge in wet conditions or crossing streams to reach your hunting area. The lead-free construction makes this load compliant in California and other jurisdictions with non-traditional ammunition regulations, so you can hunt where you want without ammunition restrictions.
The CX bullet delivers over 95% weight retention through the target, meaning the projectile stays together and drives deep rather than fragmenting and wasting energy. That combination of penetration and controlled expansion works equally well on medium game like elk or mule deer in the 50–300 lb range, or larger game pushing 300–1500 lbs. Accuracy and ruggedness are baked into the design; this is not ammunition that compromises terminal performance for the sake of legality or environmental consciousness. It performs—period.
Whether you're an overlander stocking your truck locker, a dedicated long-range or backcountry hunter, or someone who respects non-lead ammunition principles, the Hornady Outfitter 6.5 Creedmoor offers the reliability, weatherproofing, and terminal ballistics to make a clean kill count.

The Hornady Outfitter is designed for medium game in the 50–300 lb range (such as elk or mule deer) and large game in the 300–1500 lb range. The 120gr CX bullet delivers controlled expansion and deep penetration appropriate for both categories.
The sealed primer and case mouth provide watertight protection, making this ammunition more resistant to moisture damage from wet conditions, stream crossings, and high-humidity environments—critical features for backcountry and overlanding use.
Weight retention refers to how much of the original bullet remains intact after impact. The CX bullet's 95%+ weight retention means it stays together and drives deep through the target rather than fragmenting, delivering more consistent and reliable terminal performance on game.
