Hornady
The Hornady Match .224 68-grain bullet is purpose-built for precision rifle competition and target shooting. These rounds deliver the accuracy and consistency that separates match shooters from the rest, engineered with Hornady's proprietary AMP (Advanced Manufacturing Process) jacket technology. Whether you're reloading for a .223 Remington, 5.56 NATO, or another .224-caliber rifle, each of the 4,500 rounds per box is manufactured to exacting tolerances that serious competitors depend on downrange.
What makes these bullets stand out is the foundation they're built on. The AMP jacket process minimizes runout and wall thickness variation—the kind of micro-level consistency that compounds into measurable accuracy gains over distance. Paired with a swaged lead core and precision secant ogive profile, these bullets fly flatter and more predictably than generic match rounds. The boattail design is optimized specifically for this caliber and weight to maximize ballistic coefficient without compromising stability in flight.
Reloaders who shoot .224 caliber at distance—whether 100 yards at a club match or 600+ yards at a precision rifle event—will appreciate the uniformity that makes load development more straightforward and groups tighter. The hollow-point boat tail design delivers the ballistic profile competition demands. Note that these are purpose-built for target and competition shooting; they are not recommended for hunting applications.
| Caliber | .22 / .224 |
| Weight | 68 grains |
| Bullet Type | Hollow Point Boat Tail (HPBT) |
| Quantity per Box | 4,500 rounds |
| Intended Use | Target and competition shooting |
These .224-diameter bullets are suitable for reloading in common calibers like .223 Remington and 5.56 NATO. Always verify your specific rifle's chamber specifications and consult published reloading data for your exact firearm and powder combination.
No. Hornady specifically does not recommend these bullets for hunting. They're engineered exclusively for target shooting and precision rifle competition where consistency and ballistic performance matter most.
The AMP jacket process and swaged core manufacturing minimize variation from round to round. This consistency translates into tighter groups and more predictable downrange performance—essential for competitive shooters and precision rifle enthusiasts.
Each box contains 4,500 bullets, making it efficient for high-volume reloaders and competitors who shoot regularly.
