Hornady LEVERevolution 45 Colt ammunition is purpose-built for lever-action rifle shooters who want modern ballistics from a classic cartridge. This 225-grain FTX (Flex Tip eXpanding) load delivers 900 fps muzzle velocity and 405 ft-lbs of energy, engineered to cycle reliably through tubular magazines while providing the terminal performance you'd expect from a modern hunting round. If you shoot .45 Colt lever guns—whether for hunting, sport shooting, or backcountry work—LEVERevolution ammo bridges the gap between traditional lever-gun ballistics and contemporary projectile technology.

The Flex Tip bullet is the key innovation here. Traditional hollow-point or soft-point rounds can't safely feed through tubular magazines because the exposed tip can compress during feeding and cause unpredictable chamber pressures. Hornady's elastomer Flex Tip solves that problem: it's safe in the magazine, but it expands reliably on impact to deliver controlled expansion across the effective range. Combined with the bullet's higher ballistic coefficient, you get a flatter trajectory and better retained energy downrange than older-style .45 Colt loads.

Loaded in new Hornady brass, each box contains 20 rounds—what you'd expect from a premium domestic manufacturer. Whether you're hunting medium game, taking longer shots across open country, or simply putting accurate rounds downrange at the range, LEVERevolution ammo performs without the need for hand-loads or workarounds.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will LEVERevolution ammo work safely in my lever-action rifle with a tubular magazine?

Yes. The Flex Tip bullet is designed specifically to be safe in tubular magazines. Unlike traditional hollow-point rounds, the elastomer tip won't compress dangerously during feeding, so you get reliable feeding and predictable chamber pressures.

What .45 Colt lever guns is this ammo compatible with?

This is standard .45 Colt ammunition and will chamber in any rifle or revolver chambered in .45 Colt (Long Colt). Check your firearm's manual to confirm .45 Colt compatibility.

How does LEVERevolution compare to standard .45 Colt ammunition?

LEVERevolution uses a modern Flex Tip bullet with a higher ballistic coefficient, which means flatter trajectory and better energy retention downrange compared to traditional .45 Colt loads. The 225-grain weight at 900 fps is within standard .45 Colt performance ranges, but the bullet design itself delivers improved expansion and accuracy.

Is this new or remanufactured ammunition?

Each box contains new Hornady brass cases loaded with fresh components.
