The Hornady Custom Lite 12 Gauge 2-3/4" 300 Grain FTX Sabot Slug is built for hunters and shooters who want effective shotgun performance without the punishing recoil of standard magnum loads. These sabot slugs pair Hornady's proven FTX projectile design with a reduced-recoil platform, making them ideal for extended shooting sessions, younger shooters, or anyone managing recoil sensitivity while still delivering the stopping power needed for hunting applications.

What sets Custom Lite apart is the engineering behind it. Hornady matched lighter bullet weights with modified propellant blends to cut felt recoil significantly compared to standard slug loads—without sacrificing the accuracy or terminal performance you need in the field. The FTX sabot slug gives you a streamlined, aerodynamic round that flies flatter and retains energy downrange. Every component, from the brass to the primer, is selected and loaded to Hornady's exacting standards, ensuring consistent velocities and reliable performance shot to shot.

If you're running a rifled or smoothbore shotgun and want the advantage of slug hunting without absorbing heavy recoil punishment, Custom Lite is a practical, no-compromise choice. The box of five rounds is perfect for pattern testing, hunting trips, or range work where you want to stay comfortable and in control.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the recoil like compared to standard 12 gauge slug loads?

Custom Lite ammunition delivers significantly reduced recoil through the use of lighter projectiles and modified propellants. If you're sensitive to recoil or shooting extended sessions, you'll feel the difference compared to full-power slug loads.

Will FTX sabot slugs work in my rifled or smoothbore shotgun?

Sabot slugs are designed to work in both rifled and smoothbore barrels. For best results with accuracy and consistency, follow your shotgun manufacturer's recommendations for slug ammunition.

What's included in the box of 5?

You receive five loaded rounds of Hornady Custom Lite 12 Gauge 2-3/4" 300 Grain FTX Sabot ammunition, ready to load and shoot.

Is this good for hunting?

Yes. The 300-grain FTX sabot slug is designed to deliver reliable performance for hunting applications. The reduced recoil makes it practical for extended hunting days without fatigue.
