The Hornady Custom 300 AAC Blackout 110gr CX Polymer Tip Lead-Free round delivers the precision and reliability that make Hornady ammunition a go-to choice for subsonic rifle shooters and hunters. Built with the same attention to detail as a handloaded round but with factory consistency, this 300 Blackout load pairs a 110-grain CX bullet with lead-free construction—ideal for shooters in sensitive environments or those simply preferring non-toxic ammunition. At this bullet weight, you're working in the subsonic velocity sweet spot, perfect for suppressed AR platforms and bolt-action rigs where quiet operation matters.

The CX (Copper Alloy eXpanding) bullet is the standout here. Hornady engineered it to expand uniformly and retain over 95% of its weight, translating to deep, consistent penetration without the erratic bullet fragmentation that plagues cheaper lead-free options. The polymer tip isn't just for looks—it enhances aerodynamic performance and reduces bearing surface friction, which means cleaner barrels and more predictable velocities string to string. Groove technology on the bullet shank maximizes efficiency downrange, a thoughtful detail that shows up in tighter groups and more reliable terminal performance on game.

Every round is hand-inspected before packaging, the kind of quality control that separates Hornady Custom from the commodity bin. This isn't match-grade precision ammo, but it's built to shoot like handloads—tight tolerances, consistent components, and meticulous assembly. Each box contains 20 rounds, ready to feed your 300 Blackout upper or bolt gun.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this ammunition suitable for suppressed rifles?

Yes. The 110-grain bullet weight is designed for subsonic performance, which pairs perfectly with suppressed 300 Blackout uppers and bolt rifles where you want quiet operation without sonic crack.

Will this lead-free ammunition damage my barrel or require special cleaning?

Lead-free copper-alloy ammunition like the CX bullet does not require special barrel treatment. The polymer tip and optimized groove design actually help reduce fouling compared to some other lead-free rounds, keeping your barrel cleaner between cleanings.

How does the CX bullet perform on game?

The CX bullet is engineered to expand uniformly and retain over 95% of its weight on impact, delivering deep penetration with reliable terminal performance. This controlled expansion makes it suitable for hunting applications within the 300 Blackout's effective range.

Can I use this ammunition in both AR-platform and bolt-action 300 Blackout rifles?

Yes. Hornady Custom 300 AAC Blackout ammunition feeds and fires in any rifle chambered for 300 Blackout, whether semi-automatic or bolt-action.
