Hornady
Hornady Critical Duty 10mm Auto ammunition pairs reliable stopping power with barrier-blind performance—built for shooters who demand consistent results in high-stakes situations. This 175-grain FlexLock loading is engineered to perform through intermediate barriers and FBI test protocols, making it a trusted choice for defensive carry in a hard-hitting caliber.
The FlexLock bullet design combines a cannelured, crimped case to prevent bullet setback during feeding with an internal Interlock band that locks the jacket and core together. This redundant construction keeps the projectile intact through barriers and ensures maximum weight retention—critical for reliable expansion and penetration when it counts. The core itself is built from high-antimony lead, a harder alloy that delivers controlled, consistent expansion while resisting fragmentation.
Equally important is what you see in the magazine. Nickel-plated brass cases resist corrosion and are easier to verify in low-light chamber checks—a practical detail if you're carrying loaded every day. You get 20 rounds per box, enough to keep a carry gun fed and still have ammunition left for practice and familiarity.
Whether you shoot 10mm for personal defense, duty use, or simply want ammunition engineered to perform when barrier-blind reliability matters, Critical Duty delivers the terminal consistency that Hornady's testing—and real-world use—has proven.
| Cartridge | 10mm Auto |
| Bullet Weight | 175 Grains |
| Bullet Type | FlexLock |
| Case Material | Nickel-plated Brass |
| Rounds Per Box | 20 |
The cannelured and crimped case design is engineered to resist bullet setback during feeding, which helps ensure reliable chambering through the feed cycle. That said, ammunition feeding depends on your specific firearm; we recommend testing it in your carry or duty gun before relying on it.
FlexLock uses an Interlock band to lock the jacket and core together, combined with a high-antimony lead core that resists fragmentation. Hornady rates this design as more economical than similar bonded-bullet offerings while delivering comparable terminal performance through FBI test barriers.
Yes. Critical Duty is engineered for barrier-blind performance through FBI test protocols, meaning it's designed to expand and penetrate consistently whether fired through intermediate barriers or bare gelatin.
Nickel plating resists corrosion, which extends case life if ammunition is stored loaded. It also makes cases easier to visually verify in your chamber during low-light conditions—a practical advantage for defensive carry.
