Hornady
The Hornady A-Tip Match 338 Caliber 300gr bullet is a precision-engineered round designed for long-range shooters and match competitors who demand tight groups and repeatable performance. Built on years of development by Hornady's Ballistic Development Group, these .338 bullets feature an advanced aluminum tip and refined jacket design that work together to deliver exceptional aerodynamic efficiency and consistency downrange.
What sets the A-Tip Match apart is its precision-machined aluminum tip—longer and more aerodynamically optimized than traditional polymer designs. The tip geometry moves the center of gravity forward while the balanced combination of ogive shape, bearing surface, and boattail reduces drag variability and forgives minor variations in twist rate, seating depth, and muzzle velocity. Hornady backs these claims with Doppler radar verification, delivering a high ballistic coefficient you can trust in the field or at the range.
Manufacturing control here is genuinely rigorous: bullets are sequentially packaged fresh from the press, with minimal handling between stages. The refined AMP bullet jacket offers industry-leading uniformity and concentricity—the kind of consistency that translates to smaller groups when your reloading and rifle setup are dialed in. Note that loading these bullets requires a new A-TIP seating stem for optimal seating. Each box of 100 ships with a polishing bag to prepare bullets before loading, since they aren't bulk-washed post-manufacture.
| Caliber | .338 |
| Weight | 300 grains |
| Bullet Type | A-Tip Match |
| Quantity | 100 bullets |
| Special Requirement | A-TIP seating stem required for loading |
These bullets require a new A-TIP seating stem for optimal seating. Standard seating stems are not recommended.
Yes. The A-Tip Match line was developed specifically for match and precision applications, with Doppler radar verification of ballistic performance and exceptional manufacturing consistency to support tight groups at distance.
No. Hornady A-Tip Match bullets are not bulk-washed after manufacture. Each box includes a polishing bag to prepare the bullets before loading.
The refined ogive, tip length, bearing surface, and boattail geometry are optimized to be forgiving of twist rate, seating depth, and muzzle velocity variations—important for shooters working with different rifle platforms and load combinations.
