Hornady
If your firearms and valuables spend weeks or months in a safe without being checked, humidity becomes your silent enemy. The Hornady 12" Black Polymer Dehumidifier Rod is a maintenance-free solution built for long-term gun safe storage. Unlike rechargeable or oven-based dehumidifiers that demand regular attention, this electric rod plugs into an outlet and runs continuously, protecting your collection from rust, corrosion, and moisture damage without any upkeep on your part.
The rod delivers 7-watt coverage across a 100 cubic-foot range—enough to manage moisture in a standard safe or secure closet. Its innovative removable-plug design is the practical detail that sets it apart: you can route the cord through narrow gaps, vents, or openings in your safe without forcing it or damaging the seal. This matters whether you're dealing with a tight vault or a storage closet where the door needs to stay secure.
Installation is straightforward. Mount the rod horizontally near the bottom of your safe—heat rises, so bottom placement maximizes dehumidification coverage. Once plugged in and running, it operates silently in the background. This is passive protection: no charging schedules, no oven trips, no maintenance cycles. Just consistent, reliable humidity control for hunters, shooters, and collectors who want their firearms and gear in pristine condition year-round.
