Keeping firearms and ammunition dry is non-negotiable—rust and corrosion don't take days off, and neither should your gun safe's moisture control. The Hornady 95900 rechargeable dehumidifier is a practical, maintenance-friendly solution for protecting your collection against the slow creep of humidity inside safes, cabinets, and enclosed storage spaces. Unlike passive silica products that wear out and clutter your safe, this unit uses rechargeable moisture-control crystals you can dry and reuse, cutting down waste and keeping costs reasonable over time.

The system works without requiring a permanent power outlet inside your safe, which means no drilling, no wiring, no permanent installation headaches. When the crystals saturate with moisture, they shift from orange to green—a simple, silent visual cue that tells you exactly when recharging is due. Plug the unit into any standard 110V household outlet, let the built-in heating element dry the crystals back to orange, and you're ready to return it to duty. The process is straightforward and takes the guesswork out of safe maintenance.

Hornady includes a quick-connect bracket designed to secure the dehumidifier inside gun safes, storage cabinets, closets, or pantries with minimal fuss. The heat-resistant housing is built to operate safely in the confined air of a closed safe without damage or concern. Whether you're storing heirloom rifles in a humid climate or keeping a nightstand pistol in a bedroom safe, this reusable dehumidifier helps extend the life of your firearms and ammunition by controlling the enemy they face every day: moisture.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will the Hornady rechargeable dehumidifier work inside my gun safe?

Yes. The unit is designed specifically for use in gun safes and cabinets. It features a heat-resistant housing and includes a quick-connect bracket for secure mounting. It does not require a power outlet inside the safe—you only plug it in when it's time to recharge the crystals.

How do I know when the dehumidifier needs recharging?

The moisture-control crystals change color from orange to green when they've absorbed enough moisture to need drying. This visual indicator lets you know at a glance when it's time to remove the unit and plug it in for recharging.

What's included with the Hornady 95900?

The dehumidifier comes with a quick-connect bracket for mounting in gun safes, cabinets, closets, and other enclosed storage spaces.

How long does a rechargeable dehumidifier last compared to throwaway options?

Because the crystals are rechargeable, you can reuse this unit repeatedly by plugging it in to dry and reset the crystals. This eliminates the need to constantly buy replacement cartridges, making it a cost-effective choice over time for serious gun owners.
