Hornady
The Hornady Cam Lock Pilot .284 is a precision case trimming accessory built for reloaders working with 7mm cartridges. If you're setting up a Hornady Cam-Lock Case Trimmer or running the original Hornady Case Trimmer, this .284 pilot is the caliber-specific insert you need to trim your brass cases to spec. It's a small component, but Hornady doesn't cut corners—the steel construction is built to withstand repeated use and deliver consistent results year after year.
Proper case trimming is non-negotiable in precision handloading. Brass that's too long can cause feeding issues, excessive pressure, or dangerous headspace problems. The right pilot ensures your trimmer cuts cleanly and accurately to your target length, which is critical whether you're loading for a hunting rifle, precision long-range work, or the range. This pilot is sized specifically for .284 diameter cases, so it'll work with 7mm calibers like the 7mm Remington Magnum, 7mm-08, and similar cartridges.
Installation is straightforward—it's a drop-in component for the Cam-Lock system—and once it's in your trimmer, you can batch-process your brass efficiently. Hornady's attention to material quality means you won't be chasing wobble or drift as you work through a batch of cases. If you're serious about handloading accuracy, quality case prep is where precision starts.
