The Hornady Lock-N-Load Powder Measure is a versatile, single-unit solution for reloaders who work across multiple calibers and cartridge types. This multi-caliber powder measure handles everything from small pistol loads to large magnum rifle rounds by swapping metering inserts and rotors—no need to buy separate measures for different ammunition. With a maximum capacity of 265 grains and a minimum of 0.5 grains, it covers the full spectrum of modern handgun and rifle powders, making it ideal for the reloader who loads everything from .204 Ruger to .45 ACP and beyond.

The signature Lock-N-Load insert release system lets you swap metering inserts in seconds, so switching from loading .30-06 to .45 Auto is as simple as pushing a button and dropping in a new insert. You can preset your inserts and store them with your corresponding die sets, keeping your workflow organized and efficient. The measure ships with a standard rotor and metering insert to get you started, plus two drop tubes (one for .204 to .45 caliber applications) to speed powder flow and improve consistency.

Built with tight tolerances—just 0.002" clearance between drum and rotor—this measure minimizes powder binding and delivers smooth, reliable operation with both extruded and ball powders. Fine-tuning is straightforward thanks to the o-ring on the metering insert adjustment, which lets you make small incremental changes to your charge weight. Once dialed in, lock the ring to secure your setting. The measure mounts to your reloading bench with a standard mounting bracket and lock ring, or pairs with Hornady's Lock-N-Load bushings for integration into the Fast Load Powder Measure Stand or Lock-N-Load AP progressive press with case-activated powder drop.

Frequently Asked Questions

What calibers and cartridge sizes can this powder measure handle?

The Hornady Lock-N-Load accommodates everything from small pistol rounds like .45 ACP to large magnum rifle cartridges by changing metering inserts and rotors. The standard rotor and insert ship with the measure, and optional metering inserts and rotors are available separately to expand your range from 0.5 to 265 grains.

Can I use this measure on a progressive press?

Yes. The measure mounts to your bench with a standard mounting bracket and lock ring, or you can use Lock-N-Load bushings to mount it on the Fast Load Powder Measure Stand or on the Lock-N-Load AP progressive press with case-activated powder drop for automatic powder measuring.

How quickly can I change between different loads?

Metering inserts swap in seconds via the Lock-N-Load insert release button. Many reloaders preset their inserts for each cartridge and store them with the corresponding die sets, so you can go from loading one caliber to another without adjusting—just swap the insert and verify your charge.
