The HKS 27A A Series metal speedloader is a practical reload tool built for shooters who run .38 Special and .357 Magnum revolvers—specifically the Ruger Redhawk, Smith & Wesson Model 27, and Model 28. If you spend time at the range or in the field with a six-shot magnum revolver, a quality speedloader cuts your reload time significantly and keeps your hands free of loose ammunition. The 27A's metal construction and black finish are built to handle daily use without fuss.
HKS speedloaders work on a simple mechanical principle: load your six rounds into the carrier, align the bullet noses with the cylinder chambers, and a quick twist of the knurled knob releases the cartridges directly into place. The metal cam points engage the cartridge rims to hold everything secure until you're ready to load. When empty, the carrier sits flat in a belt pouch or pocket, making it a compact way to carry a full reload without juggling loose rounds.
This is the kind of accessory that becomes indispensable once you've used it a few times. Whether you're working through an afternoon of practice or simply prefer the speed and security of a speedloader over fumbling with individual rounds, the 27A delivers straightforward, dependable performance. The metal design resists wear better than polymer alternatives, and the twist-to-load mechanism is intuitive enough that you won't second-guess it under pressure.

Yes, the 27A is chambered for both .38 Special and .357 Magnum, and it's designed to fit the cylinders of Ruger Redhawks and Smith & Wesson Models 27 and 28. Make sure your specific model is listed—cylinder dimensions vary, and using the wrong speedloader can cause feeding issues.
Turn the knurled knob to the load position, place your six cartridges into the carrier, then twist the knob to lock them in place. The metal cams will seat over the cartridge rims. To load your gun, guide the bullet noses into the cylinder chambers, then twist the knob again—the rounds drop into the cylinder instantly.
The all-metal design of the 27A resists wear and corrosion better over time, especially if the speedloader spends time in a vehicle or gets regular use. Metal also provides better feedback when you're operating the knob under stress, which some shooters prefer.
Yes, the compact, flat design is intended for belt or pocket carry. Most shooters pair a speedloader with a dedicated pouch for secure, convenient carry at the range or afield.
