HEVI-Shot HS61221 HEVI-Steel waterfowl ammunition brings proven steel-shot performance to 12 gauge duck and goose hunters. These 2.75" shells deliver 1 1/8 ounces of #1 shot, a time-tested load for closing the distance on wary birds over decoys or on pass shooting. HEVI-Steel ammunition is engineered for hunters who need reliable, non-toxic loads that pattern cleanly and perform when it matters—from managed timber holes to open-water spreads.

Built on HEVI-Shot's reputation for shot consistency and ballistic reliability, this load cycles reliably in most 12 gauge shotguns and is legal for waterfowl hunting where steel shot is required. Whether you're working a traditional bottomland setup or hunting contemporary refuges with specific shot-type mandates, #1 steel offers a practical middle ground—larger than #2 for better knockdown on geese, smaller than #BB for improved pattern density on ducks at typical decoy distances.

This ammunition is sold in boxes of 25 shells, making it convenient for a morning hunt or a full season of shooting. Stock in case quantities (10 boxes per case) if you hunt regularly and want to maintain consistent velocity and point-of-impact throughout the season.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is HEVI-Shot HS61221 legal for waterfowl hunting?

Yes—HEVI-Steel ammunition uses non-toxic steel shot, which is required for waterfowl hunting in most jurisdictions. Always verify your local and state regulations before purchase.

What shot size is #1 steel best for?

Number 1 steel is a versatile choice for both ducks and geese. It offers denser patterns than larger shot sizes (useful for ducks) while retaining more energy than smaller sizes (beneficial for geese)—making it a practical compromise for mixed waterfowl hunts.

Will this ammunition work in my 12 gauge shotgun?

HEVI-Steel 2.75" shells are standard 12 gauge ammunition and will chamber in any 12 gauge shotgun. For reliable performance, confirm your shotgun is rated for steel shot and that your barrel is not damaged.

What's included in a case order?

One case contains 10 boxes of 25 shells each, for a total of 250 rounds.
