The Hevi-Shot Hevi-18 TSS Turkey Ammo is a 410 bore shotgun round built for turkey hunters who demand extreme density and pattern reliability in a non-toxic platform. With tungsten pellets at 18 g/cc density—significantly denser than lead—each 3-inch shell packs 13/16 oz of shot into a tight, lethal pattern. This ammunition delivers the downrange performance needed for decisive turkey harvests, especially at distances where conventional loads begin to open up.

What sets the Hevi-18 TSS apart is the engineering behind the shot column itself. A friction-free, spherical buffer system keeps pellets separated and aligned as they travel down the barrel, resulting in unusually dense shot groups. The buffer is locked in place with a crimp-seal resin that resists damage and maintains integrity through the firing sequence. That means your pattern stays consistent from shot to shot, box to box—critical when every pellet counts on a moving target.

The rest of the build is equally robust: a thicker base-wad, a hot primer, and clean-burning propellants work together to ensure reliable ignition and performance in wet weather and challenging conditions. For 410 bore turkey hunters who've grown frustrated with the limitations of standard shot, Hevi-18 TSS is a game-changer. You're getting non-toxic compliance without sacrificing velocity or lethal range.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will Hevi-18 TSS work in my 410 shotgun?

This ammunition is loaded as a standard 3-inch 410 bore shell and should chamber in any 410 shotgun rated for 3-inch loads. Always verify your firearm's chamber length and manufacturer specifications before shooting any ammunition.

Why is tungsten shot denser than lead, and does that matter for turkey hunting?

Tungsten is a naturally denser metal than lead—18 g/cc versus roughly 11 g/cc for lead—meaning each pellet carries more mass and retains velocity farther downrange. For turkey hunting, that translates to tighter patterns at distance and deeper penetration in vital zones, extending your effective range beyond what lighter shot can deliver.

What is the spherical buffer, and how does it improve patterns?

The buffer is a friction-free material that separates and cushions the shot pellets inside the shell. As the pellets travel up the barrel, the buffer prevents them from deforming and banging against the barrel walls, which would scatter the pattern. The result is a denser, more consistent shot group—crucial for clean turkey kills.

Is this ammunition compliant with non-toxic shot regulations?

Yes, Hevi-18 TSS is a non-toxic tungsten round, meeting federal and most state waterfowl and upland regulations. Always check your local hunting regulations to confirm ammunition requirements for your area.
