The Heritage Mfg Rough Rider 6.5" is a single-action rimfire revolver that splits the difference between Old West character and modern shooter practicality. Chambered in both .22 LR and .22 Magnum, this 9-round revolver brings classic styling to a platform that's genuinely useful for plinking, small game hunting, and casual range work. If you want the nostalgia of a SAA without the cost or recoil, or you're building a rimfire collection for fun and function, the Rough Rider delivers both in spades.
The 6.5" barrel is precision-machined steel with micro-threading and carefully fitted to the aluminum alloy frame to maintain tight cylinder lock-up and consistent barrel-to-cylinder spacing—the kind of attention that keeps shots landing where you aim. The double-caliber cylinder handles both .22 LR and .22 Magnum, giving you flexibility to load what suits the day's shooting. Adjustable rear sights and a fiber optic front sight make finding your target straightforward, even as light fades. The 6-pound trigger breaks clean, and a hammer block safety with a red-dot indicator confirms the gun is ready (or safe) at a glance.
Build quality shows in the details: the flat-sided hammer and cocobolo grips aren't just eye candy—they're genuinely ergonomic and durable. The blue finish is both attractive and practical. At 33.4 ounces and 11.785 inches overall, it's light and handy enough for a day in the field but substantial enough to shoot smoothly. Whether you're teaching a kid to shoot, running western action matches, or just spending an afternoon punching paper with a gun that actually looks like something, the Rough Rider punches above its price point.
