Henry Repeating Arms
The Henry Side Gate Lever Action Shotgun brings classic lever-gun handling to the .410 bore with a modern twist. This 19.8" barrel shotgun splits the difference between nostalgia and practicality, offering shooters familiar with traditional lever rifles a naturally intuitive platform for small-game hunting, clay work, or just plain fun at the range. The .410 chambering and compact overall length of 38.1 inches make it nimble in tight brush or around camp, while the lever action keeps your shooting hand in business.
What sets the Side Gate apart is its dual-loading flexibility. You get Henry's proven removable tube magazine system—the same reliable setup found across their rifle lineup—but add a spring-loaded side gate in the receiver for conventional loading if you prefer it. Both methods work equally well, so you can load however the moment demands. Magazine capacity sits at 5 rounds, giving you decent on-hand firepower without excess bulk.
Build quality is genuinely thoughtful here. The hardened brass receiver carries the same yield and tensile strength as steel, shedding that "budget brass" reputation and ensuring durability through years of use. Brass barrel band and buttplate echo that aesthetic, while American walnut furniture with deep checkering gives the gun character that appeals to lever-action purists. A blued barrel, buckhorn rear sight, and ivory-bead front sight round out a classic sight picture. At 7.09 pounds, it's light enough to carry all day without fatigue.
This is a shotgun for people who think like riflemen—who appreciate the elegance of a lever, the reliability of proven design, and the satisfaction of a gun that looks as good as it shoots. Whether you're working small game or introducing someone to shotgunning, the Henry Side Gate delivers character and function in equal measure.
