Haydels
The Haydel's RS85 Clear Acrylic Squaller open call is a straightforward, effective raccoon attractant designed for predator hunters and trappers. Built from clear acrylic, this call produces the distressed sounds that draw raccoons into range or toward your trap set. Unlike electronic or battery-powered calls, an open call puts the control in your hands—you generate the sound by mouth, giving you the flexibility to vary tone, volume, and cadence to match conditions and the animals' response. If you're serious about coon hunting or managing raccoon populations on your property, a reliable open call is a field-tested foundation.
Clear acrylic construction keeps the call durable and easy to clean after use in wet or brushy conditions. The open-call design means there's no complicated mechanics to fail or batteries to die at the wrong moment—just operator skill and judgment. This type of call rewards practice and patience; hunters who master mouth-blown techniques often find they can work animals closer and read behavioral responses more effectively than with preset electronic sequences.
Whether you're after raccoons over bait, setting traps along creek bottoms, or running a predator-hunting line, the RS85 fits into a versatile kit. Pair it with quality optics, a reliable firearm or trap setup, and knowledge of raccoon sign and behavior, and you'll have the core tools for successful harvest.
| Product Name | Haydel's RS85 Clear Acrylic Squaller Open Call |
| Brand | Haydel's |
| Type | Open/mouth-blown game call |
| Target Species | Raccoon |
| Material | Clear acrylic |
| Power Source | Operator-powered (no batteries) |
Open calls rely on your breath and mouth technique to create sound, giving you direct control over volume, tone, and rhythm. Electronic calls use preset recordings played through a speaker. Open calls reward skill and adaptability; many hunters prefer them because you can respond to animal behavior in real time without stopping to change settings or worry about battery life.
Yes. The RS85 is designed to attract raccoons, making it useful for both firearm hunting and trap-set preparation. Raccoons respond to distressed prey sounds, so the call works to draw them into your area whether you're hunting over bait or setting traps along travel routes.
Open calls have a learning curve—your technique, breath control, and ability to mimic natural sounds improve with practice. Beginners can produce usable calls immediately, but experienced hunters get noticeably better results as they refine their technique. If you're new to predator hunting, expect to spend time learning before you're consistently successful.
The product ships as the clear acrylic open call itself. No additional components, batteries, or accessories are included.
