Great Lakes Firearms
The Great Lakes .223 Wylde AR-15 rifle is a reliable, versatile platform built for shooters who want the flexibility to run both .223 Remington and 5.56 NATO ammunition through a single rifle. The 16-inch heavy barrel with 1:8 twist gives you the velocity and accuracy you need for hunting, target shooting, or tactical training without the length penalty of a longer carbine. At 6.8 lbs, this rifle strikes a practical balance between handling ease and recoil management—manageable enough for extended range sessions, sturdy enough to trust in the field.
The receiver set starts with 7075-T6 aluminum upper and lower, built to mil-spec tolerances and treated with a durable Cerakote finish that shrugs off weather and hard use. The 15.25-inch aluminum handguard features full Picatinny rail space, so you can mount lights, lasers, or optics exactly where you want them. Inside, you're getting an M4 feedramp system, a carbine-length gas tube paired with a 0.750-inch black oxide gas block, and a mil-spec trigger breaking at 5.5–6 lbs—all the foundational parts that keep an AR running when it matters. The included muzzle brake is designed to be wrench-tightened to spec without requiring Loctite, keeping installation simple.
One 30-round magazine ships with the rifle, and the grip is mil-spec polymer—ergonomic and proven. The barrel is available in either 416R stainless steel or 4150 CRMOV with nitride finish; both deliver accuracy and longevity. Threading is 1/2 x 28, so if you decide to add a suppressor or different brake down the road, you're covered. There are no iron sights included, which means you have a clean slate to mount whatever optic or backup sighting system fits your mission. Whether you're setting up a budget-conscious trainer, a hunting rifle, or a versatile range gun, the Great Lakes .223 Wylde gives you a solid, no-nonsense platform.
